When we dance specially an Indian Classical Dance, it is not just at physical level, it is very much at psychological, emotional and spiritual level too. It does not take only your body, but a lot of your mind and energy too. We have to channelise energy in and around ourself to generate the effect. And your Guru and teacher can only ask you and inspire you to do that, but ultimately this is something you have to do from your heart and it is intangible. And that actually immediately shows. I hope we are getting the point now. Let us think a bit more.
When we dance through our heart and soul, the energy actually radiates throughout our atmosphere that passes through people around and affects them. So, it is very important to understand what energy we are generating, what Rasa we are creating through our Bhava. In a way, it becomes our responsibility towards the surroundings in a greater way when we perform on stage. That's what we can call our Responsibility at mental and psychological level.
Other than that, you need your vehicle that is your body to carry this forward. And no one can understand your body better than yourself. One should learn to listen to your own body and act accordingly. It hence becomes our responsibility to maintain your physical health, which makes it a must to warm up before dance and cool down after, take care of your nutrition, your daily practice, how you handle injuries and proper rest. Ask yourself "Do I need a warmup since I have not been feeling active enough till now?", "Do I need a cool down as I feel cramps if I don't do them, or Do I need some time to adapt to sudden temperature difference?", "Do I feel pain in my bones, I might need some tests and nutrition", "Do I feel tired while dancing, I might need more rest.". This is how we make ourself responsible for our own physical health.
Other than that, be responsible how you present classical dance form to people who asks question about your dance practice, your purpose to dance, your choice to dance, etc. Answer them with correct information, patiently and kind-heartedly.
